Target Group

. Those responsible for lifting and slinging operations and management of Banksmen /Slingers, Responsible Persons, Competent Persons, Service Engineers, Technicians, Supervisors, Managers, Safety Officers etc

 Aim

The aim of the course is to provide selected delegates with a thorough grounding of lifting and slinging operations, including employer /employee responsibilities statutory requirements, records and ‘in depth’ safe working practices.

 Training Objectives

By the end of the course delegates will be able to:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of the legal requirements, obligations and responsibilities of lifting operations
  • Outline the principles for the selection of lifting equipment
  • Demonstrate knowledge of force influences for various sling configurations
  • Demonstrate knowledge of weight estimation
  • Select appropriate lifting equipment
  • Carry out identification and pre-use inspection
  • Use appropriate hand signals
  • Carry out safe, successful lifting operations and assessments.

  • Slinging accessories
  • Crane load table
  • Planning lifting operations and risk assessments
  • Practical considerations. Questions to ask, ‘Do’s and Don’ts’, crane signals and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

 Achievement Measurement

This two-day course is carried out in accordance with the Code of Practice for the Safe Use of Lifting Equipment as published by LEEA. Includes written assessments leading to certification on successful completion
